Payroll Analyst

Job Description

Position Overview The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the accurate, compliant, and timely end-to-end payroll process for Colombia. Operating at a professional/supervisory level, this role partners with HR, Finance, Accounting, and external payroll vendors to execute payroll, maintain statutory compliance, and drive process improvements. The analyst ensures adherence to Colombian labor, tax, and social security regulations, manages audits and reconciliations, and supports system implementations and controls. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and fluent in English and Spanish; experience supporting additional LATAM countries is a plus.

Key Responsibilities Execute end-to-end Colombian payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local regulations and company policies. Perform pre- and post-payroll validations, audits, and reconciliations; resolve variances and document results. Prepare, review, and reconcile payroll reports; support Finance and Accounting with month-end close and account reconciliations. Administer statutory obligations, including social security, tax withholding, severance, vacation, and other mandatory payroll elements. Manage payroll compliance activities such as Electronic Payroll (DIAN), Magnetic Media (Información Exógena), tax certificates, AFC/voluntary contributions, and statutory filings. Review and reconcile social security contributions via authorized operators (e.g., Mi Planilla or similar platforms). Partner with internal stakeholders and external payroll providers to resolve issues, monitor SLAs, and ensure service quality. Support payroll system implementations, enhancements, testing, and continuous process optimization. Develop and maintain payroll documentation, internal controls, and standard operating procedures. Provide responsive, confidential employee support on payroll inquiries, with a strong customer service orientation.

Education and Experience Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. 4+ years of end-to-end payroll processing experience for Colombia. Advanced knowledge of Colombian payroll legislation, social security, payroll taxes, and statutory reporting. Hands-on experience with Electronic Payroll (DIAN), Magnetic Media (Información Exógena), social security reconciliations, and payroll compliance. Experience working with external payroll providers and supporting payroll implementations or system enhancements. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with SAP HCM, ADP, Workday, Heinsohn, Novasoft, or similar payroll systems is highly desirable. Professional proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).

Preferred Preferred: Experience supporting payroll across LATAM; experience in multinational or shared services environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with high attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; customer-oriented mindset. Knowledge of payroll controls, process improvement methodologies, and continuous improvement practices. High level of integrity and confidentiality handling sensitive payroll data.
